PURPOSE: A torsion adaptable universal joint is provided to relieve vibration using a spider assembly which adapts to torsion. CONSTITUTION: A torsion adaptable universal joint(10) comprises a first yoke(16) attached on the end of a first shaft, a second yoke(18) attached to the end of a second shaft(14), and a cruciform connecting the first yoke with the second yoke. First bearing cup assemblies are prepared to receive the first trunnion posts, and second bearing cup assemblies are prepared to receive the second trunnion posts. The cruciform includes a body from which a pair of first trunnion posts and a pair of second trunnion posts are extended. A pair of passages extended via the trunnion posts are filled with the elastomer molten through an injection process. Load transmitted to the posts passes through the elastomer body, and vibration is removed.
