PURPOSE: A recording method and system are provided to allow a user to carry out required recording reservation when recording reservation that is automatically detected from program data and executed and recording reservation based on a user's operation coincide with each other. CONSTITUTION: The first recording reservation process detects a broadcasting program that meets a predetermined condition from program data and makes a reservation of recording the program. The second recording reservation process makes a reservation of a broadcasting program by a process different from the process of detecting a program from the program data(S141). When the reservation of the first process coincides with the reservation of the second process(S142), a user is notified of the coincidence. The user sets one of the two reservations and erases the other one(S145).
