PURPOSE: A power control method in a portable electronic apparatus and a method therefor are provided to apply an outer input power as a battery charging power if a battery is not fully charged, and to apply the outer input power as a system power while applying the outer input power as the system power if the battery is fully charged. CONSTITUTION: A charger(41) applies an outer input power to a battery(30) as a charging power. The second switch(42) applies a power charged in the battery(30) or the charging power applied to the battery(30) to a system load(20) as a supply power. An A/C adapter detector(40) detects whether an A/C adapter(10) is coupled. The first switch(44) applies the outer input power to the system load(20) as a supply power. A system controller(43) confirms a full charged state of the battery(30) while deciding whether the A/C adapter(10) is coupled, and controls on/off operations of the first and second switches(44,42).
