PURPOSE: A method for protecting personal information by using visual special effects in a terminal is provided to reflect a user's idea when visual special effects are applied to a compression area while transmitting moving image compression data, thereby protecting personal information. CONSTITUTION: When a bit stream is inputted to a special effect block(S201), a terminal decides whether an external input exists(S202). If not, the terminal analyzes the inputted bit stream to decide whether the bit stream has a slice header(S204). If so, the terminal decides whether the bit stream is an align bit(S205). If not, the terminal carries out a visual special effect process(S207). The terminal decides whether a skip process is to be executed(S208). If so, the terminal increases a macro block address increment by 1, and returns to the step of carrying out the visual special effect process(S209).
