PURPOSE: A rotary compressor is provided to enable operation for obtaining different refrigerant compression ratios and to prevent lowering of compression efficiency caused by oil by blocking inflow of oil into a compression chamber. CONSTITUTION: A rotary compressor comprises a cylinder part(100) having a vane(110) for partition of a compression space and a suction space; an upper bearing(210) and a lower bearing(220) each arranged to the upper and lower sides of the cylinder part; a crankshaft(300) installed through the cylinder part and the upper and lower bearings; at least one discharge port(610,620) communicating with the inside of a compression chamber; and a valve assembly having at least one suction port(710,720,730) selectively providing a refrigerant through each different positions in the compression chamber according to the rotating directions of the crankshaft and having at least one refrigerant flow part proving the refrigerant to each suction port. The upper bearing and lower bearing constitute the compression chamber by closing up the inner space of the cylinder part. The crankshaft has an eccentric part(310) to the periphery part. The compressed refrigerant is discharged through the discharge port.
