PURPOSE: A halogen-free automotive wire is provided to achieve improved fire retardant properties and resistance against heat and abrasion by optimizing thickness ratio of first and second insulation layers and enhancing composition of each layer. CONSTITUTION: A halogen-free automotive wire comprises a conductor(10); a first insulation layer(30) contacting the conductor and having a thickness of 60 to 90% of thickness of entire insulation layer; and a second insulation layer(40) covering the first insulation layer and having a thickness of 10 to 40% of thickness of entire insulation layer. The first insulation layer is composed of a metal hydroxide based inorganic fire retardant 50 to 200 weight part; antioxidant 0.5 to 20 weight part; and phenolic metal deactivator 0.1 to 3.0 weight part, with respect to a matrix resin 100 weight part having a blending ratio 2:8 to 8:2 of polyethylene based resin and ethylene copolymer resin.
