RAIN GAUGE USING OPTICAL SENSOR TO IMPROVE PRECISION OF MEASUREMENT OF AMOUNT OF RAINFALL EVEN IN CASE OF HEAVY RAIN

PURPOSE: A rain gauge is provided, to improve the precision of measurement of the amount of rainfall even in case of a heavy rain by using photo-sensing method. CONSTITUTION: The rain gauge comprises a water receiving hole(21) which receives rainwater and discharges it downward; a rotary bucket(23) which is installed at the lower part of the water receiving hole, has a plurality of buckets(23a) divided equally with a center axis, and rotates with a certain rotation diameter so as to allow the next bucket to be located at the lower part of the water receiving hole when the water level of the arbitrary bucket located at the lower part of the water receiving hole reaches a certain level; a driving means which provides a driving force to rotate the rotary bucket; an optical sensor part which senses the water level of the each bucket constituting the rotary bucket; and a control part which controls the driving means so as to allow the rotary bucket to rotate when it is sensed that the water level of the water collection room reaches a certain level.
