PURPOSE: A digital camcorder capable of image synthesis and an image synthesis method therefor are provided to maintain a previously recorded original image in the image synthesis of the digital camcorder and synthesize a still image to a previously stored moving picture. CONSTITUTION: The first recording medium(330) records the first signal in which a still image signal is processed from an image signal. The second recording medium(340) records the second signal in which a moving picture signal is processed from the image signal. A signal processing unit(320) generates a synthesis image signal in which the second signal recorded in the second recording medium is synthesized with the first signal recorded in the first recording medium. A control unit(350) controls the signal processing unit to generate the synthesis image signal.
