摘要

PURPOSE: An ultrasound catheter calibration system is provided to achieve improved accuracy of procedures performed by a catheter including an ultrasound transducer and a position sensor. CONSTITUTION: A calibration method comprises a step of disposing a probe including an ultrasound transducer(50) and a position sensor in a test fixing unit including an ultrasound target; a step of operating the probe in the test fixing unit while operating the ultrasound transducer until an output signal of the transducer indicates; a step of measuring a position signal generated by the position sensor while the transducer is being aligned with the ultrasound target, such that an orientation of the probe is determined in a reference frame of the test fixing unit; and a step of determining calibration data for the probe in response to the orientation of the probe.
