PURPOSE: A recoil starter is provided to accumulate sufficiently large rotating force in a damper spring, not to damage on a plastic component and to reduce the weight and the size. CONSTITUTION: A wire member to form a damper spring(14) has a sectional shape to be formed at least one sides in straight. The damper spring is formed by rolling the wire member in a coil shape. The inner side of the damper spring is firmly rolled in outer faces of boss portions(19,20). Thereby, the large displacement of the damper spring is suppressed when the excessive load is generated in an engine.
