POWER CONTROL APPARATUS ON PLASMA DISPLAY PANEL AND METHOD THEREOF TO PREVENT BURNOUT OF DRIVING CIRCUIT AND REMOVE POOR PICTURE QUALITY

PURPOSE: A power control apparatus on a PDP and a method thereof are provided to prevent burnout of a driving circuit and remove poor picture quality by performing a predetermined power ON/OFF sequence when power ON/OFF is performed and transient is caused by PDP setting operation. CONSTITUTION: A power control apparatus on a PDP includes a power supplier(100) supplying the power of respective devices driving the PDP if AC voltage is input, and a controller(200) controlling timing of a sustain voltage supplied from the power supplier under the control of the power supplier to supply the power to the respective devices or block the same. The power control apparatus further includes a video signal portion(300) converting an external input video signal to video data available for the PDP and outputting a power acknowledgement signal to the power supplier if the power supplied from the PDP is normally operated. Preferably, the power supplier continues to supply the power to the respective devices depending on the power acknowledgement signal output from the video signal portion.
