PURPOSE: A polarization diversity apparatus using a mindering type antenna is provided to improve the sensibility of reception and to minimize errors in high data transmission by embodying a multipath using two antenna so that Rx signals having different polarizations can be received. CONSTITUTION: A polarization diversity apparatus using a mindering type antenna comprises a vertical polarization antenna(11), a mindering type horizontal polarization antenna(15), a local oscillator(14), the first low noise amplifier(12), the first frequency mixer(13), the second low noise amplifier(16), the second frequency mixer(17), a level detector(18), and a switch(19). The vertical polarization antenna(11) receives a vertical polarization signal among received signals. The mindering type horizontal polarization antenna(15) receives a horizontal polarization signal among received signals. The local oscillator(14) oscillates a local oscillation frequency. The first low noise amplifier(12) amplifies the received vertical polarization signal. The first frequency mixer(13) mixes the amplified vertical polarization signal with the local oscillation signal and extracts an intermediate frequency. The second low noise amplifier(16) amplifies the received horizontal polarization signal. The second frequency mixer(17) mixes the amplified horizontal polarization signal with the local oscillation signal and extracts an intermediate frequency. The level detector(18) detects the levels of the intermediate frequency signals outputted from the first and second frequency mixers(13,17) respectively. The switch(19) selects a signal having a larger SNR using the detected signal levels.
