PURPOSE: Provided is a molding composition comprising hostalux and conventional polystyrene, which improves the brightness and strength of molded articles, imparts brightening effect to molded articles and prevents the discoloration of molded articles. CONSTITUTION: The molding composition comprises hostalux as an optical brightening agent and conventional polystyrene. The molding composition is obtained by mixing 100 parts by weight of conventional polystyrene with 0.0001-0.0005 parts by weight of hostalux. The molding composition is used for a method of manufacturing molded articles comprising the steps of: heating the molding composition; extruding the heated molding composition into cylindrical precursor materials; and bending the extruded precursor materials to accomplish point, line or face contacts between the precursor materials and thus to form molded articles having a desired shape.
