PURPOSE: A method and system for managing home network ID are provided to use authentication information as a home network identifier by maintaining and managing a homeNetBind table that can make user authentication information of a UDCOWEB(UPnP Device Control Over WEB) server and authentication information and device description information used by a UDCOWEB agent correspond to each other. CONSTITUTION: A UDCOWEB server(220) manages a homeNetBind table storing description information with respect to devices(213,214) of a home network and provides corresponding description information when a user is connected and authenticated over a Web. A UDCOWEB agent(212) discovers the devices(213,214), extracts description information of the devices(213,214), is connected to the UDCOWEB server(220) and authenticated, and stores the description information of the devices(213,214) in the UDCOWEB server(220). A home gateway(211) connects the UDCOWEB agent(212) to the UDCOWEB server(220) according to a request of the UDCOWEB agent(212), and connects a remote device(230) to a corresponding device of the home network.
