PROPHYLACTIC AND THERAPEUTIC COMPOSITION FOR DEMENTIA CONTAINING GANODERMA LUCIDUM EXTRACT, OLEAMIDE AND ITS STRUCTURAL ANALOGUE AS EFFECTIVE INGREDIENT WHILE EXHIBITING PROPHYLACTIC AND THERAPEUTIC EFFECT ON VASCULAR DEMENTIA AS WELL AS ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE

PURPOSE: A composition for prevention and treatment of dementia containing an extract of Ganoderma lucidum(Fr.) Karst., oleamide and its structural analogue is provided. It exhibits prophylactic and therapeutic effect on vascular dementia as well as Alzheimer's disease. CONSTITUTION: The food composition for prevention and treatment of dementia contains a Ganoderma lucidum extract containing one or more effective fractions selected from GL-M, GL-M-8, GL-M-8-F-b, GL-M-8-F-b-III, GL-M-8-F-III-1. The food composition contains a compound represented by the formulae(1, 2 and 3) as an effective ingredient, wherein R1 is 9-octadecenoyl(oleyl), 9-hexadecenoly(palmitoleyl) or tetradecanoyl(myristyl). The composition inhibits the activity of acetylcholinesterase of the animal brain tissue and protecting effect on the brain tissue damaged by brain ischemia while preventing the reduction acetylcholine amount in the brain.
