PURPOSE: Mono(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidyl) diaryl phosphate compounds, a preparation method thereof, and a resin composition comprising the same compounds are provided. The compounds have improved fire retardancy and thermal resistance, and low tarnishing, so that the compounds can be useful as photostable fire retardant in polycarbonate, ABS resin, styrene-based copolymer and polyolefin. CONSTITUTION: The mono(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidyl) diaryl phosphate compounds represented by formula (1) are provided, wherein R1, R2, R1' and R2' are independently hydrogen or C1-C8 alkyl. The method for preparing the mono(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidyl) diaryl phosphate compounds of formula (1) comprises reacting triaryl phosphate of formula (3) with 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidinol of formula (4) in the presence of catalyst selected from sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, sulfuric acid and phosphate at 130 to 220 deg. C for 6 to 8 hours. The resin composition comprises 0.1 to 50 parts by weight of the mono(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl piperidyl) diaryl phosphate compounds of formula (1), wherein the resin is selected from thermoplastic resins such as vinyl chloride resin, polyethylene, polypropylene, ABS resin, polystyrene, polymethylmetaacrylate, polyamide and polycarbonate, and thermosetting resins such as polyurethane resin, phenol resin, melamine resin and unsaturated polyester resin.
