PURPOSE: A remote monitoring system for an elevator is provided to reduce the time for repairing an elevator by promptly giving a repair worker of the necessary information for repairing. CONSTITUTION: A remote monitoring system for an elevator comprises plural machinery room control panels(n) of an elevator system and a central monitoring center(16) collecting data about the operation state and failure occurrence of an elevator from the machinery room control panels. The control panel includes a central processing unit(11), an input and output unit(12) inputting and outputting data for the central processing unit, and a program running unit(13) performing the operation of the elevator. The machinery room control panel includes a communication peripheral device(14) transmitting the operation state and failure of the elevator and a modem(15) connected with the communication peripheral device to remotely transmit the data.
