PURPOSE: A cladding pump fiber amplifier using long-period fiber grating is provided to effectively amplify a signal light by using a pump light of higher power than the power of the pump light used in an existing erbium doped fiber amplifier. CONSTITUTION: A cladding pump erbium doped fiber amplifier is formed by using a long-period fiber grating(3). The long-period fiber grating(3) is formed in the erbium doped fiber in order to couple a pump light passing an erbium doped fiber cladding(2) of an optical fiber with an optical fiber core(1). A wavelength characteristic of the pump light corresponds to a grating period of the long-period fiber grating(3) by controlling the grating period of the long-period fiber grating(3). The pump light is coupled with the optical fiber core(1) by the long-period fiber grating(3) if a signal light source is irradiated to the optical fiber core(1) and the pump light is transmitted to the erbium doped fiber cladding(2). The cladding pump erbium doped fiber amplifier is completed by amplifying the signal light of the optical fiber core(1).
