PURPOSE: A damping rubber and a damper assembly of an optical disc player are provided to form a damping space in the vertical direction for improving the damping of vibration in the tracking direction while keeping the vibration damping characteristics in the focusing direction of an optical pickup. CONSTITUTION: A damping rubber of an optical disc player includes a deck receiving part(51), upper and lower rubber parts(52,53), a protrusion part(56), a connection part(57), and a damping space(58). The deck receiving part is in the depressed annular shape in the center of an outer periphery of a rubber. The upper and lower rubber parts are respectively extended from the deck receiving part upward and downward. The upper and lower rubber parts are connected by the connection part formed of side walls of the deck receiving part and a second inner wall(55), so that the upper and lower rubber parts are integral with the connection part. The protrusion part is formed by a predetermined height for forming the damping space in association with the second inner wall in the lower rubber part. The damping space is defined by the protrusion part and the second inner wall in the vertical direction for smoothly driving a pickup both in the tracking and focusing directions with improved damping effect.
