PURPOSE: A white light emitting device and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent the degradation of emissive efficiency and to reduce fabrication costs by using two emissive parts capable of emitting rays of light with different wavelengths instead of a fluorescent substance member. CONSTITUTION: A white light emitting device includes a light transmissive conductive substrate, a first emissive part, a second emissive part, and a first to third electrode. The substrate(41) has a first surface defined with a first and second region and a second surface. The first emissive part(20) composed of a first clad layer(21), a first active region(23,25,27) and a second clad layer(29) is formed on the first region of the conductive substrate. The second emissive part(30) composed of a third clad layer(31), a second active region(33) and a fourth clad layer(35) is formed on the second region of the conductive substrate. White light is obtained from the first and second active regions. The first electrode(45) is connected to the second surface of the conductive substrate. The second and third electrodes(47) are connected to the second and fourth clad layers.
