METHOD FOR LIMITING THE USAGE OF AN UNREGISTERED MOBILE TERMINAL IN A MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, SPECIALLY CONCERNED WITH RETRIEVING A VLR ONLY WITHOUT TRANSMITTING A SUBSCRIBER AUTHENTICATION REQUEST TO AN HLR, SO AS TO REDUCE A MESSAGE TRANSCEIVING PROCESS

PURPOSE: A method for limiting usage of an unregistered mobile terminal in a mobile communication system is provided to temporarily store an announcement in a VLR if an authentication fails, and to retrieve the VLR without transmitting an authentication request to an HLR when an illegal user repeatedly attempts a call, then to deliver the announcement, thereby reducing a message transceiving process between an MSC and the HLR. CONSTITUTION: An MSC is in standby state(401), and decides whether an originating call request is received through a BS(402). If so, the MSC requests a VLR to authenticate a subscriber(403), and decides whether a subscriber authentication result is received from the VLR(404). If so, the MSC decides whether the subscriber is a registered user(405). If not, the MSC decides whether the subscriber is an unregistered user who exists in the VLR(407). If not, the MSC inquires of an HLR about an authentication(410). The MSC decides whether an authentication succeed message is received from the HLR(411). If not, the MSC delivers an announcement(413), and requests subscriber information to be stored in the VLR(414).
