摘要

PURPOSE: Provided are a flame retardant resin composition which is excellent in flexibility, formability, durability, strength, flame retardancy and chemical resistance, and its preparation method. CONSTITUTION: The resin composition comprises 10-96 wt% of a poly(vinyl alcohol) and 4-90 wt% of a silicate material, wherein the anion of the silicate material forms a cross-linked structure in the poly(vinyl alcohol) molecule. Preferably the poly(vinyl alcohol) has a degree of polymerization of 30-30,000 and a saponification degree of 50-100 %; and the silicate material is an aqueous solution or solid powder of sodium silicate, potassium silicate or sodium potassium silicate. The method comprises the steps of dissolving a poly(vinyl alcohol) in water; and adding a silicate material to the obtained solution to prepare a resin composition by crosslinking.
