PURPOSE: Provided are an extract of Acer okamotoanum having anti-oxidant activity and a pharmaceutical composition comprising the same as an active ingredient. The extract prevents and treats diseases caused by oxygen free radicals, preserves foods and prevents skin aging caused by oxidative damage. CONSTITUTION: The extract of Acer okamotoanum is obtained by using an organic solvent selected from the group consisting of alcohol, ethylacetate, dichloromethane and acetone as an extracting solvent, and has anti-oxidant activity. The extract contains a compound selected form the group consisting of compounds represented by the formulae 1-9, as an active ingredient.
