METHOD FOR PROCESSING A FLOW OF AN EDGE ROUTER IN A NETWORK APPLIED WITH AN ADVANCED IP, ESPECIALLY WITH REGARDS TO REDUCING A LOAD IN ACCORDANCE WITH AN ACCOUNTING INFORMATION COLLECTION, WHILE REALIZING A USAGE BASED CHARGE ACCOUNTING SYSTEM

PURPOSE: A method for processing a flow of an edge router in a network applied with an advanced IP is provided to distinguish each flow by using flow level values of an IPv6, and to collect a usage quantity of a network by transmission address of transmission flows, thereby enabling a usage based charge accounting system while reducing a load of an edge router. CONSTITUTION: When a packet is received(S31), an edge router extracts a system identifier of a flow level value of a transmitted packet header(S32), then decides whether the extracted system identifier is equal to a self system identifier(S33). If so, the router decides whether the packet is the first packet of a flow(S34). If so, the router generates a new flow entry to add(S35), and forwards the packet to a destination IP address(S36). If the packet is not the first packet, the router retrieves a flow entry(S37), and updates the number of transmission packets of the flow entry(S38). The router forwards the packet to the destination IP address(S39), and decides whether the packet is a last packet(S40). If so, the router transmits the flow entry to an accounting system(S41).
