METHOD FOR PRODUCING ASTAXANTHIN FROM HAEMATOCOCCUS PLUVIALIS WITH IMPROVED YIELD BY GRADUALLY INCREASING THE LIGHT-IRRADIATION

PURPOSE: A method for producing astaxanthin is provided, thereby effectively increasing the productivity of astaxanthin as well as growth of Haematococcus pluvialis by gradually increasing the light-irradiation. CONSTITUTION: The method for producing astaxanthin comprises the steps of: culturing Haematococcus pluvialis in a photobioreactor under condition to gradually increase the light-irradiation in the rate of 0.05 microE m-2s-1/min to 0.08 0.05 microE m-2s-1/min; and collecting the cultured products under the light-irradiation condition of at least 500 microE m-2s-1/min.
