DEVICE FOR MEASURING AN OPTICAL SIGNAL POWER LEVEL IN A GIGABIT-CAPABLE PASSIVE OPTICAL NETWORK AND AN OLT INCLUDING THE DEVICE, ESPECIALLY IN CONNECTION WITH SEPARATING AN OPTICAL SIGNAL FROM A PHOTO COUPLER, AND MEASURING A POWER LEVEL OF THE OPTICAL SIGNAL
PURPOSE: A device for measuring an optical signal power level in a GPON(Gigabit-capable Passive Optical Network) and an OLT including the device are provided to command an ONU to control an optical output power only when an optical power level is smaller than a low threshold value or bigger than a high threshold value, without changing the optical power if the optical power level is between the low threshold value and the high threshold value, thereby simply measuring the optical power level. CONSTITUTION: An optical level receiver(200) receives optical signals from plural ONUs, converts the optical signals into electric signals, and amplifies the electric signals. A low threshold value sensor(210) is applied with optical level signals to compare the optical level signals with a low threshold value, and outputs compared results. A high threshold value sensor(220) is applied with optical level signals to compare the optical level signals with a high threshold value, and outputs compared results. A level control signal generator(230) generates a level control signal according to the compared results.
