PURPOSE: Provided is a lithium ion polymer battery system for a fuel cell hybrid electric automobile to improve the output performance by increasing the internal temperature of a battery cell at a low temperature and to enhance the vehicle performance by increasing the power limit of a battery. CONSTITUTION: The lithium ion polymer battery system comprises a battery pack which comprises a laminate of a plurality of lithium ion polymer battery cells(10) and is used as an auxiliary power source of a fuel cell hybrid electric automobile; a thermistor(20) which senses the temperature of the battery cells when the battery cells are charged or discharged; and a battery management system(30) where a DC/DC converter(31) and a resister(32) are arranged and which reads the sensed temperature from the thermistor and increases the internal temperature of the battery cells when the battery cells are charged or discharged if the read temperature is below a certain temperature.
