PURPOSE: An information processing apparatus, an information processing method and software are provided to remove users' inconvenience in handling a shutter sound or processing a display when a character is recognized. CONSTITUTION: A photographing unit(103) converts a subject, such as a figure of a person, a landscape or a character, into image information that can be handled by a CPU(102). The converted image information is displayed on a display unit(107) as necessary. A user instructs photographing by means of a shutter by selecting an image desired to be photographed while monitoring the image information displayed on the display unit(107). When the shutter is pressed, the photographed image information is stored in a memory unit(104). The memory unit(104) also stores data or software handled by a mobile phone. An image recognition unit(105) recognizes identification information such as a character or a symbol included in the image information. A speaker(106) outputs a shutter sound or a call termination sound. A mode determination flag(108) is used by the CPU(102) to determine a photograph mode.
