PURPOSE: A roaming gateway system for globally supplying a short message interworking service and a method therefor are provided to transmit a domestic short message to an overseas person who wants to use an international short message by using a domestic mobile terminal, so that the overseas person can receive the domestic short message. CONSTITUTION: A subscriber terminal(110) transmits a short message(S1). A domestic service provider(120) analyzes a received prefix, and forms the prefix in short message format to transmit the short message(S2). A roaming gateway(130) converts a message protocol into a predetermined format, and sends the converted message to an overseas provider(140)(S3). The overseas provider(140) transforms the message according to a standard type, and sends the transformed message to an overseas user(150)(S4). Accounting information is interworked with an accounting system of a domestic calling service provider, or CDR information is stored in a storage medium of the roaming gateway(130).
