PURPOSE: A track jump device and a method for considering a position of a pickup are provided to stably carry out a track jump in consideration of a lens position of a pickup, thereby realizing an exact and stable search operation while recording/reproducing data on an optical recording medium. CONSTITUTION: An optical disk is chucked and driven(300). A system decides whether a track jump is performed(301). If so, the system cuts off a control signal transmitted to a driver(302). The system confirms a pickup position by monitoring an error signal outputted from an RF processor(303). The system decides whether the pickup position exceeds a reference range(304). If so, the system cuts off a kick voltage, and stands by(305). The system decides whether the pickup position is located within the reference range(306). If so, the system applies the kick voltage to the driver(307), and confirms a time when a break voltage is applied, while calculating a track to be jumped(308). When a pickup arrives on a target track, the system applies the break voltage(309).
