PURPOSE: A power source device and an operating method thereof are provided to improve power factor and efficiency by reducing a current chattering and a current ripple of a power-factor-improved circuit. CONSTITUTION: A power source device having an improved power factor includes an AC(Alternating Current) source(Vin), a power-factor-improved circuit(100), a DC-DC converter(120), and a controller(140). The power-factor-improved circuit improves the power factor of the alternating current by using a switching element and converts the result to a DC current. The DC-DC converter converts the output of the power-factor-improved circuit to a desired DC source. The controller controls the switching element according to an input voltage inputted to the power-factor-improved circuit to vary an output voltage of the power-factor-improved circuit.
