PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for measuring body fat are provided to randomly measure and manage body fat of a user during normal computer usage by implementing a body fat measurer on computer keyboards. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for measuring body fat includes an electrode(110), a keyboard controller(130), a body fat measurer(120), and a switch(140). The electrodes are implemented at predetermined positions on a keyboard and are contacted with parts of the body of a measured person. The keyboard controller outputs normal key signals. The body fat measurer forces the keyboard controller into an inactive mode when the electrode is touched with the measured person, measures a body current of the user to calculate a body impedance. The body fat measurer transmits the body impedance to a computer in a key signal format. The switch switches a data line and a clock line between the computer and the keyboard controller according to a control signal applied from the body fat measurer.
