PURPOSE: An image-drawing method and an image-drawing apparatus are provided to reduce the time necessary to update a spatial light-modulation device, and to improve the resolution in a scanning direction while maintaining a scanning speed. CONSTITUTION: The method for drawing an image by relatively moving an image-drawing head in a predetermined scanning direction along an image-drawing plane, comprises the steps of: allocating a plurality of rows of image-drawing elements; outputting control signals to each of the plurality of allocated regions in succession; and carrying out successive modulation from the image-drawing elements of regions in which an operation of inputting of control signals is completed. The image-drawing head comprises a spatial light-modulation device, in which a plurality of rows of image-drawing elements modulating the incident light according to inputted control signals are arranged, and forms an image on the image-drawing plane with light modulated by the spatial light-modulation device.
