FOOD COMPOSITION FOR PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF TYPE B HEPATITIS CONTAINING GALLOCATECHIN GALLATE, EPGALLOCATECHIN GALLATE OR PHARMACEUTICALLY ACCEPTABLE SALT

PURPOSE: A food composition for prevention and treatment of type B hepatitis containing gallocatechin gallate, epgallocatechin gallate or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof as an effective ingredient is provided. It strongly inhibits the formation of Hepatitis B Virus E Antigen which maintains hepatitis in chronic state and possesses low cytotoxicity and thus can be effectively used in prevention and inhibition of hepatitis. CONSTITUTION: The food composition for prevention and treatment of type B hepatitis contains gallocatechin gallate of the formula 1 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt or epgallocatechin gallate of the formula 2 or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt. The daily dosage level of the compound is in the range of 0.1 to 500mg in single or divided doses. During the manufacture of foods or beverages, 0.0001 to 10% by weight of gallocatechin gallate or epgallocatechin gallate is added. For an example, 0.24 to 0.64% by weight of gallocatechin gallate or epgallocatechin gallate is mixed with 50 to 60% by weight of sugar, 39.26 to 49.66% by weight of corn syrup and 0.1% by weight of orange flavor to make candy.
