PURPOSE: A lock protecting circuit, an integrated circuit, and a method are provided to reduce an area occupied by a circuit and costs by eliminating the necessity of using an externally attached condenser. CONSTITUTION: A lock protecting circuit comprises a start pulse measuring unit for counting start pulses; a lock state detection unit for detecting lock state of a motor in accordance with the result of the counting performed by the start pulse measuring unit; and a drive coil current cut-off control unit for controlling cut-off of the current being supplied to a drive coil when the lock state is detected.
