PURPOSE: A device is provided to reduce the difference in luminance between a plurality of discharge regions of a plasma display. CONSTITUTION: An image display device comprises a metal support plate(1) for carrying, at a front surface thereof, a plasma discharge display and, at a rear surface thereof, a power supply and control unit(13) for the discharge of the plasma display. The plasma display includes a front panel and a rear panel, and at least a first electrode array for maintaining a discharge by applying voltage pulses between adjacent electrodes of two different series of electrodes in the first array. The electrodes have connection end portions(11,12) extended from one side of the panel. The connection end portions are disposed on opposed edges of the plasma display. The power circuit for each pair of adjacent electrodes of two different series forms a current loop starting from the power supply and control unit and passing through the first electrode and the second electrode of the pair of adjacent electrodes. The current loop does not enclose the metal support plate. The connection end portion of one of the adjacent electrodes is linked to the power supply and control unit by a transverse electrical conductor(21) disposed on the front surface of the metal support plate and extended from the connection end portions to the opposed side of the plasma display. The transverse conductor linked to an electrode corresponding to the pair of adjacent electrodes forms an angle which is not zero, with the pair of electrodes.
