PURPOSE: A system for generating a file system within a file through a storage technology-extracting method is provided to supply a mechanism for converting operating system image components into file system-based images, thereby easily conducting a device component update function while being applicable to an initial image. CONSTITUTION: Two basic components such as a disk image utility(230) and an image following processor(232) are provided. The disk image utility(230) takes sets of a technology(file,236) which is related to partitions/file systems desired by a user, a technology(file,238) which is related to a mapping of partition structures of packages(234), and packetized operating system components(or packages). The disk image utility(230) generates one output file(206) including various partitions(209-212). Contents of each package are stored in proper partitions, and executable codes are disposed in virtual address space-based addresses.
