PURPOSE: A method for charging a battery of a hybrid electric vehicle using a telematics system is provided to optimize a battery charging amount by determining conditions for retrieving energy and the shortest distance information. CONSTITUTION: A method for charging battery of a hybrid electric vehicle using a telematics system is provided. The telematics system receives corresponding data by forming a communication channel through a mobile communication network and includes a terminal for the hybrid electric vehicle. The telematics system includes a control tower for providing traffic information corresponding to the terminal for the hybrid electric vehicle. Data communication is performed by connecting to the control center through the mobile communication network using the terminal installed on the hybrid electric vehicle(s210).
