PURPOSE: A plasma display panel is provided to lower a breakdown voltage, stabilize a sustain discharge, and achieve improved luminous efficiency by enhancing the shapes of discharge sustain electrodes. CONSTITUTION: A plasma display panel comprises a first substrate and a second substrate opposed with each other; address electrodes formed on the first substrate; barrier ribs(12) disposed in the space formed between the first substrate and the second substrate so as to define discharge cells(6R,6G,6B); red, green, and blue phosphor layers formed in the respective discharge cells; and discharge sustain electrodes made of a metal material and formed on the second substrate. The discharge sustain electrodes have a pair of line portions(16a,18a) corresponding to each of discharge cells; and a pair of protruded portions(16c,18c) extended toward insides of the discharge cells and opposed with each other. The protruded portions have recessed portions(16d,18d) formed at the respective centers of opposed surfaces of the protruded portions, such that the protruded portions are opposed with each other, with an expanded discharge gap(G1) interposed between the pair of protruded portions.
