PURPOSE: A regenerative heat pump unit is provided to heat or cool by storing cold or heat with the residual electricity at night, to increase the energy efficiency by defrosting the refrigerant circulation pipe of the outdoor heat exchanger with stored heat without an auxiliary heater, and to simplify the structure by arranging plural four-way valves and forming the forward or reverse cycle with the single expansion valve. CONSTITUTION: A regenerative heat pump is composed of a couple of heat exchanger(20,40) arranged at both sides of a compressor, a four-way valve selectively converting the refrigerant passage between the compressor and the heat exchanger, a unidirectional single expansion valve(30), a four-way valve converting the refrigerant passage corresponding to the direction of the expansion valve, a heat storage tank(50) arranged between the expansion valve and the heat exchanger, an outdoor unit(60) and an indoor unit(70) combined with the heat exchangers for forcibly circulating, and plural direction change valves(53,54,55,61,62) arranged properly to selectively circulate heat exchange media between the heat storage tank and the indoor or outdoor unit.
