PURPOSE: A burglarproof apparatus in a portable terminal and a method thereof are provided to prevent a terminal from being missed or stolen by setting an alarm function and to exactly catch the location of the terminal through a GPS function. CONSTITUTION: A burglarproof apparatus in a portable terminal comprises a memory(13), a GPS receiver(19), a vibration detection part(11), an on/off detection part(12), a control part(10), and an alarm generation part(16). The memory(13) stores a phone number appointed according to a user's setting, transmission details, and alarm details. The GPS receiver(19) acquires the coordinates of the present location of the terminal in an alarm mode. The vibration detection part(11) and the on/off detection part(12) detect a change of circumstances due to the vibration or on/off of the terminal. The control part(10) outputs a control signal according to a detection result of the vibration detection part(11) or the on/off detection part(12), in case that the terminal vibrates or is opened. The alarm generation part(16) amplifies alarm details according to a control signal from the control part(10), and outputs them by voice.
