PURPOSE: A land pre-pit detection system and method is provided to detect precise position data on an optical medium by using land pre-pit data only in an effective range. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a land pre-pit data detector(103), a wobble signal detector(104) and a land pre-pit data generator(105). The land pre-pit data detector(103) detects the land pre-pit data while it eliminates a wobble frequency included in optical signals reflected from an optical medium. The wobble signal detector(104) detects a wobble signal from the reflected optical signal. The land pre-pit data generator(105) generates the land pre-pit data of the optical medium by using the land pre-pit data, detected by the land pre-pit data detector(103), and the wobble signal, detected by the wobble signal detector(104).
