PURPOSE: A spinning reel is provided to prevent a reel unit or a rotor from being easily scratched. CONSTITUTION: The spinning reel comprises: a reel unit(2) being adapted to be mounted on a fishing rod; a spool being movably mounted to the reel unit to move back and forth relative to the reel unit, the spool having an outer peripheral portion on which fishing line is adapted to be wound and unwound; a rotor(3) being rotatably mounted to the reel unit, the rotor being adapted to wind the fishing line onto the spool in response to rotation of the handle; and a guard member having a plate-shaped embedded portion embedded in at least one of the reel unit and the rotor, and a protruding portion protruding from an outer surface of the one of the reel unit and the rotor, the protruding portion being connectedly formed with the embedded portion.
