PURPOSE: A control method for an air-cleaning system of a vehicle is provided to shorten difference between harmful-gas penetration time and air cleaner operating time by sensing harmful gas with an AQSE, changing automatically into an internal mode, and operating the air cleaner for the predetermined time. CONSTITUTION: An air-cleaning system of a vehicle is composed of an AQS for detecting harmful gas outside the vehicle; an air cleaner for purifying the air of a vehicle room; and a control unit for controlling a ventilation mode and operation of the air cleaner according to the amount of harmful gas detected by the AQS. A control method for the air-cleaning system comprises steps for detecting harmful gas components contained in the air out of the vehicle by the AQS(s2); judging whether the amount of the harmful gas is over a predetermined value or not by the control unit(s3); and changing a ventilation mode into an internal air mode and operating the air cleaner for the predetermined time by the control unit when the amount of the harmful gas is over a predetermined value(s5,s6,s7).
