PURPOSE: A receiver of a wireless communication system for controlling a transmission window size changing procedure and a method for controlling a transmitter are provided to improve wireless transmission efficiency by controlling a receiver and a transmitter using a control message containing a window size parameter. CONSTITUTION: In order to control the size of a transmission window(42) of a transmitter(34), a receiver(32) is driven and then a control message containing a window size parameter is sent to the transmitter. Upon receiving the control message, the transmitter is driven and then a response message is sent to the receiver and the size of the transmission window is controlled based on the window size parameter. In case the receiver does not receive the response message within a predetermined time interval, the control message is resent to the transmitter.
