PURPOSE: A laser diode power control device in an optical driver is provided to control a laser diode power by selectively applying a fine-tuning pulse such as a multi-pulse train or a multi-pulse chain, thereby generating a more optimal recording pulse for an optical medium. CONSTITUTION: A pulse generator(140) generates recording pulses for each channel. A controller(104) determines whether to apply a fine-tuning pulse to the recording pulses of each channel according to a type and a speed of an optical medium, and controls the pulse generator(140). A transmission unit transmits power levels in accordance with each channel according to the recording pulses. The controller(104) applies the fine-tuning pulse to a section except some sections of a selected channel. Some sections are over-driver sections.
