PURPOSE: A system and a method for confirming a position of a public transportation by using a mobile communication terminal are provided to request position information on transportation only when a specific key is pressed in the terminal, thereby exactly predicting an expected arrival time of the transportation, consequently a standby time in a bus stop can be reduced. CONSTITUTION: A mobile object transceives position information with a GPS by embedding a position information receiving module, and transmits self mobile object position information. A base station transmits the mobile object position information to an MODB(Moving Object DB), or transmits the position information to a corresponding terminal. The terminal generates a position information data request signal of the mobile object when a specific key is selected to confirm the position information, and receives the position information. A mobile object position information checker checks the position information, and stores position information data in the MODB.
