PURPOSE: An audio/video apparatus for providing personalized services through voice recognition and speaker recognition and a method of providing the same are provided to avoid performing a separate user recognition procedure by carrying out the voice recognition and the speaker recognition simultaneously when user's voice is inputted. CONSTITUTION: A remote controller(100) includes a voice input part(110) for receiving voice of a user. A voice recognition part(210) in an audio/video apparatus(200) recognizes the voice inputted through the voice input part. A speaker recognition part(220) recognizes the user based on the voice inputted through the voice input part. A judgement part(240) determines what instruction the voice recognized by the voice recognition part is. A database(260) stores user information, voice information, personalized service information of the user and instructions. A service search part(250) searches the database for a service corresponding to a recognized instruction and the personalized service information.
