METHOD FOR PERFORMING AN UPLINK ACCESS IN A BROADBAND MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM, PARTICULARLY FOR PREFERENTIALLY PROCESSING BANDWIDTH ALLOCATION OF DATA WITH A HIGHER PRIORITY LEVEL SUCH AS A REAL TIME SERVICE OR HANDOFF

PURPOSE: A method for performing an uplink access in a broadband mobile communication system is provided to reduce a standby time taken for re-connection in case of channel congestion. CONSTITUTION: A terminal(400) transmits a bandwidth request message to a base station(450) through an access channel, namely, a contention-based connection channel in an uplink(411). The terminal(400) transmits the same bandwidth request message to the base station(450) after the lapse of a random backoff time(413). The terminal(400) re-attempts transmission of the same bandwidth request message after the lapse of the random backoff time(415). If there is no bandwidth as requested by the terminal(400)(417), the base station transmits a bandwidth request rejection message to the terminal(400)(419). Upon receiving a dedicated PN code, waiting time information, dedicated PN code lifetime information through the bandwidth request rejection message, the terminal(400) waits for the waiting time without attempting re-connection(423). When the waiting time elapses, the terminal(400) performs a contention-free connection to the base station by using the dedicated PN code as allocated within the dedicated PN code lifetime(427).
