PURPOSE: An apparatus for detecting a position of a moving object is provided to prevent a magnetic field generator from moving in parallel to a position detecting direction and a magnetic direction. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for detecting a position of a moving object includes a first magnetic body(1) and a second magnetic body(2) having a gap therebetween. The first magnetic body(1) and the second magnetic body(2) are aligned corresponding to each other and are supported by a supporting member(8). A magnetic field generator(5) is aligned in the first magnetic body(1) or the second magnetic body(2) in order to form a magnetic path together with the first magnetic body(1) and the second magnetic body(2). The magnetic field generator(5) is maintained and fixed by a maintenance member(4). The maintenance member(4) is relatively moved with respect to the first magnetic body(1) and the second magnetic body(2).
